Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Çam came together with Guidance and Psychological Counselling students and listeners interested in the subject with his seminar titled ‘Interpersonal Attraction with Social Psychological Dimensions’.
In the seminar, why individuals are more attracted to certain people and the psychological and social dynamics underlying interpersonal attraction were discussed. The role of factors such as physical attractiveness, similarity, closeness and reciprocity in interpersonal attraction was detailed in the light of scientific research.
In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çam touched upon the basic concepts of social psychology and emphasised that interpersonal attraction is not only limited to romantic relationships, but is also of great importance in friendships and professional/professional relationships. He stated that understanding how interactions are shaped is a critical factor in building healthy and satisfying relationships.
In the interactive parts of the seminar, participants shared their thoughts on the factors that increase interpersonal attraction and examples from psychological experiments were discussed. The event, which was enriched with examples from daily life, attracted great interest from the participants.
Answering the questions of the audience at the end of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Çam stated that studies on interpersonal relationships are becoming more and more important today and that more research is needed in this field. The seminar was concluded with the questions of the participants and the examples they shared from their own lives.
