Guidance and Psychological Counseling undergraduate program aims to train psychological counselors who have the necessary knowledge and equipment in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, are capable of solving problems by following the developments in this field, and have gained sufficient and ethical responsibility in their profession. Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling; It aims to train professionals who can effectively apply psychological counseling and guidance services for children, adolescents and adults. The Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling aims to train staff who will provide protective, preventive and improving mental health services for individuals of all ages, from prenatal to death.

About the Department

In the Department of Educational Sciences, Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, there are a total of six academic staff, including three associate professors, two assistant professors and one research assistant.

Education Period of the Department

In the undergraduate program, four years of education are given with 240 credits. It is possible to take a total of sixteen elective courses during the education period. According to Article 44 of the Law No. 2547, the normal education period of the students is four years and they have to attend classes.

Employment Opportunities for Graduates

Students who graduate from the programme can work as psychological counsellors in public and private schools, guidance and research centres, university psychological counselling centres, hospitals, businesses, etc. and freelance. Graduates of the field of guidance and psychological counselling, which started to take place in the education system in the 1950s, mainly work as psychological counselling and guidance specialists in public and private schools and provide psychological counselling services in different institutions and organisations such as Guidance and Research Centres, Ministry of Justice, Police Force, etc. Since it is a field where specialisation is required, it is observed that graduates are in demand for postgraduate programmes.
