In 2018, the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling started to admit students and has a total of seven academic staff, including two associate professors, two doctoral faculty members and three research assistants. As of the 2021/2022 academic year, it has 255 students. Each year 60 students are accepted to the programme. In the Guidance and Psychological Counselling programme within the department, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students as of the 2021/2022 academic year. Classes are held in a total of five classrooms in Hacı Bektaş Veli Classrooms and Feqiye Teyran Classrooms of the Faculty of Education. All of these classrooms have smart boards; four classrooms have fixed seating arrangements while one classroom has flexible seating arrangements.
Our mission is to train psychological counsellors who have the necessary knowledge and equipment in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counselling, who have the ability to solve problems by following the developments in this field, who are competent in their profession and who have gained ethical responsibility. The Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling aims to train professionals who can effectively implement psychological counselling and guidance services for children, adolescents and adults. The aim of the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling is to train staff who will provide protective, preventive and developmental services for mental health for individuals of all ages from early childhood to advanced ages.
To train psychological counsellors who are sensitive to human, society and changes and problems in the world, comprehend the new paradigms of the profession in the 21st century, adopt the humanist and existential philosophy of life, gain competence and ethical responsibility in their profession, use information and communication technologies effectively, and provide qualified psychological services in institutions such as education, health, justice, social services, industry, etc.
With the Guidance and Psychological Counselling programme of our faculty, which is compatible with teacher education, to provide updated teaching services that are sensitive to social needs; to train community leaders who have adopted the ethical values of their profession.
To train teaching staff for domestic and foreign higher education institutions through the undergraduate programme. To carry out studies that will bring solutions to our social problems. To carry out national and international comprehensive projects.
Sensitive to social problems and needs; To train professional staff who are role models for the society by taking into account the ethical principles of the field of PCG.
